Abstract:

Venezuela was Taiwan’s eighth largest trading partner in Latin America in 2006, after Brazil, Mexico, Chile, Peru, Argentina, Panama, and Colombia.
According to statistics of the Directorate General of Customs(MOF)this year, with exports of US$ 148.01 million and imports of US$4.81 million, Taiwan’s total trade volume with Venezuela reached US$ 152.82 million from January to December 2006, so Taiwan enjoyed a surplus of US$ 143.20 million, an increase of 30.17%.
Taiwan exports to Venezuela rose by 25.76% this year, while imports from Venezuela were down 37.35 % compared with the previous year.
Taiwan’s main exports to Venezuela included machinery for working rubber or plastics, air or vacuum pumps, calculating machines, electrical machinery and equipment and parts(sound recorders, television images, reproducers)vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling-stock, plastics and plastic articles, rubber and rubber articles, man-made filaments, iron or steel, cotton, furniture, optical and toys, etc. Venezuela exports were organic chemicals, raw hides and skins, aluminum and articles, iron and steel, plastics and articles, copper and articles, inorganic chemicals, optical, rubber and rubber articles.
